‘My priority is to rescue Chibok girls unharmed’ – Buhari

Despite wobbling on the issue of the missing Chibok Girls, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, said his administration was determined to find and rescue the remaining Chibok schoolgirls that were kidnapped from their school in 2004.

The President stated this when he broke the Ramadan fast with members of the diplomatic corps at the state house, Abuja.

Buhari noted that the rescue of the girls still remains a high priority for his government.

“We are not letting up our efforts to rescue the Chibok girls, our priority is to rescue them unharmed.”

While condemning the upsurge of militancy in the Niger Delta, the President stated that his government will continue to tackle the security challenges facing Nigeria.

He, however, regretted that terrorism has rendered many Nigerians homeless and orphaned.

He said, “our main focus is to ensure their safe return to their homes and rehabilitation of their communities.”

Buhari also reiterated that “no amount of militancy shall distract us from engaging with the region.”
