I wanted to sell my son’s head for money – Suspect tells Police

Maikudi Mohammed, a 25 year-old resident of Galambi village, Bauchi State has told the State Police Command that he wanted to sell the head of his dead son due to poverty.

Mohammed, 25 and his accomplice, one Damina Mohammed, 26, were arrested in Misau Town in possession of human head wrapped inside a cloth.

The duo were said to have gone to a grave yard in Galambi village and removed the head from the child corpse to sell it to a customer now at large.

He confessed that he wanted to sell the head for money.

It was gathered that the duo had gone to the grave yard in Galambi village where the dead boy was buried and removed the head.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Haruna Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Bauchi State Command who confirmed the arrest of the two suspects said that “following intelligence report one Maikudi Mohammed male and 25 years of Galambi village was arrested on 7/7/2016 with suspected Human head wrapped inside a cloth by Police detectives in Misau Town.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect conspired with his accomplice one Damina Mohammed male and 26 years of the same address, went to a grave yard in Galambi village and removed the head of a male child corpse in order to sell it to their customer now at large.

“The principal suspect confessed that the child was his son who died and was buried but he later went back to the graveyard at night with his accomplice and exhumed it.”

The police spokesman said investigation has commenced into the case after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.

A source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said poverty led Maikudi to carry out the evil act.

He said Maikudi had not been finding life easy with his family and that the hardship might have forced him to exhume the dead son’s to sell it for money.

He blamed Maikudi for the action which he described as evil.

“Maikudi would have pray to God to change his predicament for good after all the meaning of his name, Maikudi means ‘rich man’ which means he is destine to be rich if he believes God rather than committing such abominable act,” he said.
